The Art of Slicing an Avocado
The morning of an annual girl’s trip, everyone woke up craving avocado toast. Of course, I ended up taking the reins on the mission. To my surprise the avocados we bought were in top tier condition, so I got a little extra with my presentation. The end result is the picture linked to this recipe, perfection. Here’s a couple different ways you impress your friend and family when slicing an avocado. Remember, you don’t want the avocado to be too firm or too squishy, it should be slightly soft and a beautiful greenish yellow.
Double Fan
Cut your avocado in half, remove the pit, and peel off the skin. Take a half and turn it horizontally (sideways). Next, make thin slices from starting from left to right until the the entire half is sliced. After that, separate your slices into two sections (I just split it down the middle). Once you have your two sections, fan them out by sliding your fingers across the slices. Finally, place your sections on a piece of toast (two rows of slices) and enjoy!
The Rose
Cut your avocado in half, remove the pit, and peel off the skin. Take a half and turn it vertically. Make small slices starting from left to right until the the entire half is sliced. Once it’s sliced, fan out the half. Next, take the start of the line and begin to turn the line toward itself. Continue to wrap the slices until you run out avocado (should be a circle). Finally, take your rose and place it on a piece of toast. I have the hardest time eating this one because it’s just so pretty.
Classic Fan
Cut your avocado in half, remove the pit, and peel off the skin. Take a half and turn it vertically. Like the rose, make thin slices from left to right. After that fan it out and place on some toast. Boom, that’s it!
